Old Lady Soda

"What are you drinking, Daddy?"
"Old Lady soda, you wouldn't like it."

Left over red wine from two days ago, over ice, with seltzer and lime. A habit I picked up from my Nonna (read:grandmother) Elvira. Particularly refreshing on a humid night while watering the tomato garden.

Hey - I see you made that with Chianti -- I never know what to do with old Chianti - except wait for vinegar to happen. Thanks for the tip. Cheers!

Giuseppe,

That's what we call a "wine spritzer", and we don't wait for the wine to be left over. In any case, the soda transforms the dullest red wine into an invigorating summer drink.

Thanks for reminding me of this summer classic! I'll have to give it a shot tomorrow.

I'll have to try this with leftover lasagne.
